It’s time to paint the streets! Channel your inner street artist at Second Sunday on Main’s July 13th event. Next Sunday, Art on the Streets will team up with local artists to transform Main Street’s crosswalks into temporary public art. The community art project, ArtWalks, will tackle a different set of crosswalks at each Second Sunday on Main event from July to October.
How it works: Artists will create the outline of a new piece of artwork in one or two crosswalks on Main Street. Anyone who wants to pick up a brush will become a “citizen artist” for the day.
The ArtWalk design was created by artists Beth Graves, Pam Kravetz, and Carla Morales with inspiration from the community: attendees from Cincy Sundaes, students at the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and visitors from the Art on the Streets Idea Booth at June’s Second Sunday on Main.
Get involved: Check out the first ArtWalk painting at Main and Liberty Street on Sunday, July 13 beginning at noon and continuing until the crosswalk is filled with art.
About ArtWalks: ArtWalks is funded with donations by Cincy Sundaes and a matching grant from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation’s Big Idea Challenge.
And of course don’t forget to stop by Art on the Streets’ performance tent at the corner of Orchard Street and Main Street.
